Bren’s Irvine Company gives to Dem’s Becerra for California governor
Xavier Becerra reeled in a big fish. Donald Bren’s Irvine Company cut the Democrat a $39,200 check, campaign finance data revealed. The late-July contribution — which is the max an individual person or entity can give directly to a candidate for the general election in the California governor race — to Becerra’s campaign came from Irvine Management Company. That is the broker behind Bren’s Irvine Company Apartment Communities entity. Bren is the richest real estate developer in the country, and his Irvine Company is one of California’s largest private landlords. The Newport Beach-based outfit owns a fifth of Orange County.
