California MLS sues Compass, seeking relief from lawsuit threat

In the waning hours before Compass’ threatened deadline of an antitrust suit, the California Regional Multiple Listing Service went on the offense.  The listing service filed a lawsuit against Compass, asking a federal court to preemptively rule that its rules governing how listings are marketed do not violate federal or state antitrust laws, and to prevent Compass from bringing an antitrust case in the future.   The filing in the Southern District of New York, late Monday night, comes just before the Oct. 6 deadline that Compass had given the listing service last month to change its rules and stop fining […]
