Congress summons Bass over LA homelessness system

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is being asked to testify before Congress over alleged waste and mismanagement in the city’s homelessness system, putting additional scrutiny on the agency that controls hundreds of millions of dollars in housing and homeless-services funding. Rep. Tim Burchett — Tennessee Republican and chair of the House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency — sent Bass a four-page letter seeking her testimony at a Sept. 15 hearing, the Los Angeles Times reported.  The panel is examining what it calls the potential misallocation of federal dollars by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.
