Does not compute: LA County bans data center development in unincorporated areas
Los Angeles County is putting the brakes on the development of artificial intelligence data centers. Amy Bodek, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, ordered an immediate halt to new facilities in unincorporated areas while the county works to make the prohibition permanent, KABC reported. The temporary ban is expected to stay in place while zoning amendments move through the county bureaucracy. The move follows an April motion by Board Chair and 1st District Supervisor Hilda Solis, who cited public health and environmental concerns raised by San Gabriel Valley residents.
