Ex-LA deputy mayor sues insurer Chubb over Palisades fire cleanup
A Pacific Palisades mansion with a celebrity-studded pedigree has become the latest battleground over who pays to clean up homes damaged by last year’s Palisades and Eaton fires. Austin Beutner, a former Blackstone partner and Los Angeles deputy mayor, and his wife, Virginia, sued Chubb and two environmental consulting firms in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging the insurer refused to cover the full cost of remediating lead and other contaminants that entered their home during the Palisades fire in January 2025, the New York Times reported.
