Malibu, Pasadena wave white flag on SB 9 challenges, settle with YIMBY Law

Malibu and Pasadena are backing away from their post-wildfire restrictions on California’s Senate Bill 9 — reopening a path for some homeowners to split residential lots and add housing as they rebuild from January 2025’s devastating fires. Following lawsuits from YIMBY Law, the cities reached settlements that required both to repeal measures that suspended or prohibited SB 9 projects in areas affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires, the Malibu Times reported.
